Tosh put the teams out of sync, by only being able to race on Saturday…….. Dave & Vicki finally decided that Bassett Variety Pack would be Katie, Tosh, Beano & Alfie and Hotdogs Tess, Archie, Spencer, Molly & Meg. Luckily both these combinations worked well!
Saturday, Variety Pack were seed 2 in Div 5. On paper there was only about ½ sec between the 6 teams….
Race 1: Variety Pack ‘v’ Hotshots – Won 3-0 best time 20.74
Race 2: Variety Pack ‘v’ Brimblecombe Boomerangs – Won 3-1, best time 20.29
Race 3: Variety Pack ‘v’ Leamington Royals – Needed to win this one, and racing very close. We won the first race easily, they then brought in a much faster dog, and both Claire & I got lights. Lost 1-3, best time 20.87
During our lunch break, just before we were due to race, the heavens opened. Luckily we didn’t get wet, but the racing lanes turned to mud! Luckily the show went on…..
Race 4: Variety Pack ‘v’ Wolf Pack – Won 3-0, best time 20.73
Race 5: Variety Pack ‘v’ Urban Wolves – Won 3-0, best time 21.11
So we came 2nd in Div 5, best time 20.29.
Hotdogs raced on Sunday. The field had dried out a bit from Saturday’s downpour, but it wasn’t easy to get cars onto the showground! Thanks to Pete &Wendy for letting me have the following results:
Race 1: Hotdogs ‘v’ Molton Meteors – Won 3-1, best time 19.75
Race 2: Hotdogs ‘v’ Mansfield Tantrumz – Won 3-1, best time 20.46
Race 3: Hotdogs ‘v’ Nuneaton Dodgers – Lost 0-3, best time 20.35 (Had a light, took Spncer out & put Molly in)
Race 4: Hotdogs ‘v’ Barkshire Bandidos – Won 3-1, best time 20.30
Race 5: Hotdogs ‘v’ Nuneaton Bees – Won 3-0, best time 20.43
All the dogs ran well. Molly only ran out once, and Chris held Spencer at the back of the ring. Hotdogs only lost one race all day, and that was due to box malfunction……Kiddy’s kindly loaned their box for the team to finish the day off! They came 2nd in Div 3, best time 19.55.
