Most of us chickened out of camping, so we weren’t there to see Pete put his big tool to use on the new model……………(Having been a bit rusty at Frimley, I hear it is well oiled now…….)
Luckily the teams were in different Divs, and we all arrived in plenty of time, allowing the usual 1hr per part of each Div. We/I estimated we should be running at about 11ish am. At 12.15 Div 3 finally got underway……..
Claire had requested that Beau ran in a 5 dog team on this occasion, so he was put into Hotdogs (Molly, Tosh, Tess, Alfie & Beau) and Allsorts had Katie, Archie, Spencer & Meg. Allsorts was seed 5 in Div 3 and Hotdogs seed 6 in Div 2. Didn’t fancy our chances today, particularly for Hotdogs who were up against 4 sub 19sec teams………….
Race 1: Allsorts ‘v’ Molten Monarchs – W 3-1 – Archie had a slight mishap, by running to the oppositions box, so we started him closer to the line, and he was off! Best time 21.11
Race 2: Allsorts ‘v’ Snatch n Grab – L 0-3 – They were just too fast for us. Harvey managed to get some good passes in, so gaining the best time of the day 20.03
Race 3: Allsorts ‘v’ Swifts – W 3-0 as the Swifts had pulled out………..but in typical team fashion, we managed to mess up every leg they ran! Best time 24.10
Race 4: Allsorts ‘v’ Barkshire Bambinos – W 3-2 – Some very close racing, but the team kept their cool (!) and managed to win. Best time 20.95
Race 5: Allsorts ‘v’ Maple Leaf Stampede – W 3-2 – Another session of close racing. Harvey managed some brilliant passes, so managing to bring home the win. Best time 20.86
Over all the Allsorts came a fantastic 2nd in Div 3, best time 20.03. And so onto Hotdogs
Race 1: Hotdogs ‘v’ Maple Leaf Raggers – L 0-3 – (Tosh, Tess, Beau, Alfie) No contest on speed, didn’t stand a chance! Best time 19.51
Race 2: Hotdogs ‘v’ Bristol Ballistics – L 2-3 – (Molly, Tosh, Beau, Alfie) some tight racing. At 2-2 decided to pull out Alf for Tess, but Molly fumbled, so lost anyway! Best time 19.92
Race 3: Hotdogs ‘v’ Molten Muzzles – L 1-3 – (Molly, Tess, Beau, Alfie). Again, they were much faster. Molly fumbled a couple of times, so swapped her for Tosh. Best time 20.48
Race 4: Hotdogs ‘v’ Running 4 Mutts – L 2-3 – (Molly, Tosh, Tess, Beau) – Again, some very tight racing, best time 19.56
Race 5: Hotdogs ‘v’ Barkshire Bandidos – W 3-2 – (Molly, Tosh, Tess, Alfie) – Another session of close racing. At 2-1 down to Barkshire, they pulled in a faster dog. And pulled back to 2-2. Wasn’t sure if Beau could pull it back for us, but Alfie was running well, so stayed as we were. And we won! Best time 20.29
Over all the Hotdogs came 5th in Div 2, best time 19.51.
