After re-arranging Elaines shift's at work, we went to Moreton Morrell with just one team. We raced as Hotdogs, which meant we might struggle, but on the other hand, we wouldn't bump up the Allsorts seed time. So we had Ollie, Meg, Molly, Spencer, Tosh & Alfie, seeded 5 in Div 2.
Race 1: Hotdogs 'v' Coventry Dodgers - Tosh, Meg, Spencer & Molly (14"). - First race, we all had to get into our stride, and in the second, we were away winning the leg but only by a whisker! Lost with a light in the 3rd, and another light in the 4th by Molly, but Dave managed to get her back up, no problem. Unfortunately, we still lost it! Lost 3-1, best time 19.04
Race 2: Hotdogs 'v' Bristol Ballistics - Ollie, Tosh, Spencer & Alfie (12") - Not enough speed against this team. Lost 3-0, best time 19.46
Race 3: Hotdogs 'v' Nuneaton Bees - Molly, Tosh, Meg, Alfie (14") - This one we needed to win, as we were in equal last place!! And what some tight racing we had! Won the first 2 aces, so all going to plan! Then!!!!!!! A light, a re-run, but lost it. Not quite sure what happened in the 4th race, as we did a 20.39, so loosing that one as well. Molly then decided she wasn't going to be caught, & had a wee! And finally……………….the last race……………Molly twiddled on the start line……………..but so did the opposition!! Molly spun again, and the opposition's dog ran! And then so did Molly, but all too late. Lost 3-2, best time 19.52
Race 4: Hotdogs 'v' Maple Leaf Raggers - Ollie, Meg, Spencer & Alfie (12") - Again not enough speed against this team today. Lost 3-1, best time 19.99
Race 5: Hotdogs 'v' Gofours - Ollie, Meg, Tosh & Molly (& Spencer) (12") - This was our last chance to pull a race back. Molly had different ideas, and twiddled on the run down. So Spencer was pulled in. Lost the next race by half a whisker, and won the 3rd by a nose! And lost the 4th by another whisker!! It really was unbelievably tight & exciting. Lost 3-1, best time 19.13
So we came last in Div 2, but the close racing made for a good day. A quick estimate on points, and I think Meg achieved her FDa, so well done to her! The venue was lovely, well worth camping at next year, if it's on…………….
