This year, we arrived in plenty of time - and the flyball was running just about to time, so we had a little time to relax before we started!!
We were seeded 1 in Div 2, with a submitted time of 19.30. Team dogs, Tosh, Meg, Beau, Molly, with Spencer & Angel on stand by - just in case!
Race 1: Hotdogs 'v' Wellinborough Red Wellies - We lost the first 2 legs, then got our act together, and won 2. We just had to keep calm and repeat what we had just done. Unfortunately for some unknown reason (at the time) Beau returned v. slowly, and didn't look at all happy .so we lost. Best time 20.40.
Claire took Beau off, and Wendy went to get Angel, as she was 'on stand by, in case of emergencies'! Wendy was concerned that people might blink, and miss Angel's performance, but with out Angel, we wouldn't be able to race at all. Claire returned with Beau, to announce he was in fact constipated, and hoped he would now run OK!! (And the remainder of the day was spent discussing dog poo, constipation and colonic irrigation!!)
Race 2: Hotdogs 'v' Gofours - We kept Beau in, but swapped him and Molly's running order around. We lost 3-0, best time 20.32.
Race 3: Hotdogs 'v' Coventry Dodgers - We started to get our act together, but not enough to win. Lost 3-1, best time 19.96.
Race 4: Hotdogs 'v' Bad Dogs on the Run - It was decided, as we had no hope against this team, to bring Spencer in, to 'try him out'!! He ran well, but we lost 3-1, best time 20.51.
Race 5: Hotdogs 'v' Molton Magnets - Probably our closest racing, but unfortunately the dogs started fumbling the box! (Yes, we did blame the box loader!). But all the dogs were excellent, as they all managed to come in over the jumps, even from some awkward angles. So another loss 3-0, best time 21.38.
No rosettes today, but the dogs all ran well. We were comparing the dogs to last year - Tosh could only run last on the red lane, so I could run out of the door. It was Beau's first show. Molly could only run first, and Meg hadn't even run in competition
