Wimborne - 16th October 2004 (Report by Anne Alderman)

Having watched the weather forecast on Thursday night, Claire & I decided we would join Pete & Wendy, with a w/e of camping. And as it happened, it turned out to be a very pleasant w/e.

Saturday saw Jelly Babies racing in Div 4, seeded 5 out of 6! Jan was ill, so we didn't have Eddie to reduce our jump height. So we raced over 14" all day. The team dogs were Molly, Katie, Angel, Breeze & Ben.

Unfortunately, Ben refused to take the jumps on the way back, so Andy pulled him out, which left Breeze and Angel to race all day. We lost 4 out of 5 races, but did manage a win against the Knight Mares. This gave us a 3 way run off (sudden death - best of 1), with Knight Mares & ExtraBuccs. Again, we lost to the Extrabuccs, and beat the Knights. So giving us 5th place, best time 22.87secs. And Angel gained her FD Title - Congratulations to Wendy!

Our evening entertainment, almost matched that of when we were invited to Jeff & Marilyn's caravan at Broadlands! Having woken Pete & Wendy up, Claire & I were entertained by Wendy who was showing us what was in one of the drawers, only to then find a magazine had dropped down the back, and the drawer wouldn't go back in. So Wendy then went on to demonstrate how the small pull out table pulled out……………and how it pushed back in, only it didn't!! No amount of pushing was going to replace it!

And onto Sunday. Allsorts were back up to full steam, with Beano, Ollie, Meg, Tosh & Beau. We were seeded 1 in Div 2. Our seed time was a good half second faster than seed 2, so we just needed to keep calm! We narrowly won our first 2 races, against Barkshire & Maple Leaf Raggers, then our all important race, against Bad Dog Meecos (who had managed to run sub 19 secs), we lost. When we were 2-1 down, we pulled Meg out for Beau, in the hope that the first 3 could give Beau enough leeway to make up the difference on the run for home. Unfortunately, when Claire released Beau, she managed to knee him on the chin (and has the bruise to prove just how hard it was!), so Beau didn't get off to a good start, and that was that! Worth a try though!! And our last 2 races were close again, but we did manage to win both.

And so we went into another 3 way run off. This time best of 3. The result for us was as before - lost to Bad Dogs, but beat Dorset Diamonds. This gave us 2nd in Div 2, best time 19.37.
