Windsor - Sun. 17th Aug (Report by Robert Henshall and Anne Alderman)

An excellent new tournament venue at Windsor racecourse, and were sorry we did not camp now that we saw the venue. B. Hotdogs was seeded 6 in a 6 team Div 3. Team dogs were Abby, Monty, Ollie and Spencer.

Race 1: BH 'v' Nuneaton Bees (seed 1) No errors in the first heat but lost recording our fastest time of the day. In the 2nd Ollie decided to 'fly with the bees', so we lost on interference. A 'wall of orange' divided the teams for the 3rd heat and this time Ollie kept to our side of the ring. Lost 0-3 (19.43(L), INT(L), 31.39(L))

Race 2: Hotdogs 'v' Buccaneers (seed 3) No errors but taken to 4 heats to win 3-1 (19.97(L), 20.03(W), 19.71(W), 19.76(W))

Race 3: Hotdogs 'v' Maple Leaf Raggers (seed 2) Again some more close racing and again taken to 4 heats to win 3-1 (19.66(W), 24.09(W), 19.76(L), 20.30(W))

Race 4: Hotdogs 'v' Barkshire Bullets (seed 4) Some good running after a flier in the first heat (can't remember culprit) but lost 0-3 (24.09(L), 19.90(L), 19.47(L))

Race 5: Hotdogs 'v' PODlings Again some good racing apart from the hic-cup in 2nd heat when it was pointless re-running. Lost 0-3 (19.57(L), N/T(L), 19.80(L))

Hotdogs ended up in 5th place.

As this was the last of the 5 tournaments making up the summer championships 2003 the results were determined. B. Allsorts came 1st in Div 6. So it was up on to the Butchers Podium for a team photo holding the cup.

(Back to Anne!) Having driven to Windsor from Suffolk (after our week Dogs In Need holiday) that morning, I missed Allsorts' first session of racing, although I believe all did not go well, with both Rosie and Molly running out, leaving the two 'old boys' to keep up the team spirits! (Ben & Badger!). Breeze helped Ben out in the afternoon session, when he started to get tired, but it wasn't enough to pull back any races. We came 5th in Div 4.
