Paddock Wood - W/e 13/14th Sept. - (Report by Ann Alderman)

An early start for the 'Anglesey Team' on Sunday to get to Kent Country show. Team members being Andy, Tina, Rachel, Kay and myself, with Derek (Buccaneers) as Boxloader. Allsorts was seeded 1 in Div 2. Team dogs were Abby, Monty, Rosie, Ollie & Ben.

Race 1: Allsorts 'v' Springboks (seed 6) Res. Abby Not a good start with Rosie & Ben both running out in pursuit of ball (both are not fully conversant with the box). Also I was having problems with running Monty as I kept getting early start lights gaining the name 'trigger man' from Gwain doing the commentary. We had no problems in the 3rd leg but still lost 3-0 (40.72(L), 35.90(L), 20.71(L))

Race2: Allsorts 'v' Melton Striders (seed 5) Res. Rosie Some good running against Melton but just not good enough and we lost 1-3. (19.99(W), 20.26(L), 20.50(L), 29.31(L))

Race 3: Allsorts 'v' Bad Dogs on the Run (seed 4). Res. Ben Some close and exciting racing with Bad Dogs with 3 straight wins and giving us our best time of the day of 19.33. Won 3-0 (19.33(W), 19.50(W), 21.53(W))

Race 4: Allsorts 'v' K9'ers (seed 3). Res. Ollie We took the 1st but lost the 2nd with Monty getting a light to make it one each. But with consistent running we took the next 2 legs. Won 3-1 (20.99(W), 26.55(L), 20.89(W), 20.80(W))

Race 5: Allsorts 'v' Trying 4 Mutts (seed 2) Res. Monty We had now taken the 4th & 3rd seeds so what about seed 2? We started well to win the 1st leg and giving Rosie her FDg. Congratulations to Rosie & Kay. The 2nd & 3rd we lost making it 2-1. Although we lost the 3rd another milestone was achieved by Ben gaining his FDa. Congratulations to Ben & Andy this time! With some very close racing it was decided to rest Ben and bring Monty back in. Was it worth it as Ollie got a light, but with a light also in the red lane gave us a chance. With Ollie running to the back of the ring, a combined effort by Rachel & Andy to get him to run straight back down the flyball lane worked, as Ollie returned triumphant. So at 2-2, it was 'down to the wire'. With no errors we won the 5th leg to take the race 3-2 (20.16(W), 20.46(L), 20.91(L), 27.60(W), 20.33(W)).

The 3 wins gave us a 3-way tie, but as the organisers were way behind schedule they decided 2nd, 3rd, 4th place on fastest times. So we ended up in 3rd place behind Bad Dogs. We all had a good days racing with Rosie & Ben gaining their respective titles. At the presentations there was a FD certificate for Tosh & Anne, and an Ice Blue Moon Award for Abby.
