As Mulitbreed had been cancelled due to lack of entries and several of our team decided not to go this year for various reasons, I was most disappointed!! I didn't want to camp on my own and Rachel volunteered to come with me, so off the to of us went on the Sunday for cleverdogs.
We had a good journey and parking was ringside. The sun shone all day and the going was excellent. The flyball ring was well away from the shooting and there were no cannons in the main ring! In fact, Ross, although slightly deaf, didn't hear the guns at all - indeed we could hardly hear them! There was one div. of racing (Div 1) when Rachel box loaded for Buccaneers as their box loader, Derek, was commandeered to do the table. On form, Hotdogs could have done very well in this div.
Mini cleverdogs (5 entries, round robin, won by Bramble the Poodle) was followed by ABC cleverdogs (7 entries, double elimination). Pairs only attracted 3 entries and then a fun class was arranged with a very easy course for dogs new to cleverdogs. The course was not easy for Daisy (jumps towards the crowds), or me (I had to stay with her for a lot of the course). She ran well in her first race, easily winning against Rocky, the GSD. She was a bit silly against Storm (no chance!), and then went to pieces in the agility against Tehya, the NSDTR, (also managing a very rare run round the first jump following a fumble at the box). This put her out of the top 4 - Storm, Mac, Rocky, Tehya. She had the 3rd fastest time of the day, and came 5th. I was disappointed but at least Daisy and I took part, which I thought I wouldn't be able to do!
I hope we will be able to go to Knebworth and participate in the flyball next year.
