Daventry - 14/15th June - (Report by Ann Alderman)

Again, another show, where we were a bit short on numbers! Teams had to be worked around Ollie and Ben, who could only come on Sunday. Although we had one team running each day, unfortunately Allsorts was Saturday, and Hotdogs Sunday, giving us the wrong mix of dogs for our seed times!

Saturday was a lovely leisurely day! Just racing one team, no helping, and plenty of time to cool off between races! We were running over Rosie's now 'official height' of 13". Alongside Rosie was Abby, Badger, Breeze and Daisy. We also had the added complication of no box loader! We did find a dog holder, so which ever dog didn't run, that handler box loaded. The four 'fastest' dogs were used in the first race to see what kind of times they were running. And we recorded our fastest time of the day, with a 20.70. Not good enough to beat the opposition though (which is how we expected the whole of the division to be like!) Daisy, Breeze and Badger, were going to share the racing, but what we ended up doing, was starting with Daisy, and then swapping her for Breeze or Badger, if we thought we could beat the opposition! This meant we also had to swap box loaders! No one seemed to mind us holding up the racing a little! We went on to win 3 of our races, and came 3rd in Div 4. And the following dogs gained their new FD titles: Badger FDa, Rosie FDi, and Daisy FD.

We went for a lovely walk in the evening, Robert, Kay & Hilary cut the last corner off, while Claire & I continued, only for Tosh to finally come home a Tri colour, stagnant smelling collie! (Not quite as impressive as Bailey though!)

Hotdogs had their work cut out on Sunday. With only Ollie, Monty, Ben and Barley (Boots on stand by), and a seed time faster than they were able to run, they couldn't keep up with the opposition, unless they made a mistake. In one race there was total confusion, I think that whole race went wrong with flying passes, dropped balls etc……….Anyway, in the afternoon, racing got back to normality, and although we didn't win anything, the dogs raced well, and had a fastest time of 20.72. And Ollie gained his FD title.
