Broadlands 24-26th May - (Report by Ann Alderman)

As multibreed had been cancelled on the Saturday, we (Robert, Kay, Claire, Jeff, Marilyn, Hilary, Pat & I) decided to go to the beach for a walk. We followed Jeff down to Hengisbury Head, near Christchurch, for a lovely walk along the beach, and back around by Christchurch harbour. The sea was in, and we had a limited amount of sand to walk on, between the sea and the pebbles! At times we were all seen to be jumping into each other trying to avoid getting wet feet. But there's always one - Pat got the wet foot! By the time we had finished our walk, we were all hungry, and as the café was right next to the car park, we had a picnic (will have to do it properly next year!). In the evening we had the BBQ, while the weather stayed pleasant, and then Claire , Hilary & I invited ourselves 'round to Jeff and Marilyn's for the evening entertainment (Rapidough - the art of modelling very simple words, like cow and ballerina. The evening went down hill when we had hump and then finger!)

Sunday, we were up bright and early (well Tosh was anyway!). We were seed 4 in Div 1. Hotdogs comprised of Abby, Monty (surrogate handler, Rachel), Rosie, Barley and Daisy. We had a new set of lights made by Martin Pollard, replicated on the NAFA lights. The main difference being, the slightly different timing of the light sequence. We were finding on the first amber you went further back (Abby 50') and the second light you went slightly forward (Ollie 25' approx). Daisy raced against the Bad Dog Racers, whist Barley stood out, as she was looking a little lame, after hitting a jump. All the dogs raced well, but poor Rosie got a light on a couple of occasions, as she is a little light on the box. Daisy also had that trouble occasionally over the w/e. We came 3rd, with a best time of 19.41. So I think everyone was pleased with that!

In the afternoon, we had Daisy in ABC cleverdogs, where she got through to the final 4, and came 4th. And Ben & Badger paired up. They lost their first race (against the eventual winners), but went on to win the next 2, so coming 3rd.

Evening entertainment was a quiz, hosted by Jumping Jacks. Hilary & Pat went along, and waited for the rest of their team to turn up! Jeff & Marilyn, duly arrived and they came 2nd, winning a bottle of whisky. And where were Claire & Anne? We decided to go for a walk in the New Forest. And Tosh & Beau found the boggiest bit of Britain I think!

Monday was Allsorts' turn. Having twisted Jan's arm, and surprising Berit with requiring Fudge, we finally had Ollie, Ben, Badger, Eddie, Fudge and Breeze. Ollie and Ed had to run all day, so the other 4 could share! This worked out well, and although we had to keep swapping our running orders due to which lane we were in, and who can change over with who, we finally pulled through to come 3rd in Div 2, with a best time of 22.37. We had some good racing, particularly with Ball Busters at the end of the day. Ollie raced extremely well, and those who know him, all commented on how well he ran. (I think Rachel was over the moon with him).

And in the afternoon, Ben went on to do cleverdogs, where he got through to Div 1, but unfortunately was drawn against Dee, so knocking him out. He came 6th.

Everyone, except Hilary and I packed up and went home. We stayed an extra night, and went for a lovely walk down on Hayling Island, just to round the w/e off!
