Andover - 17th May - (Report by Ann Alderman)

We managed to get two teams together, with a few alterations to the teams as we were still without Barley. The weather forecast wasn't brilliant, and for once they (unfortunately) got it right!!

We started off with Allsorts in Div 3 (Molly, Abby, Eddie, Badger & Ben). We managed to win our first race, against Buccaroos, who were having a few problems. So a good start there! Next onto the blue lane, against the Maple Leaf Rockies. Racing was close, but we couldn't quite catch them, with Ed first and a twiddling Molly who isn't used to passing! Then onto the Wolf Pack, who were by far the fastest team in the Div, so no chance! (Kay was box loading for them, but we swapped when racing each other. )

Onto Div 2 and Hotdogs (Toddy, Spencer, Monty & Rosie). We had a few hiccups in our race (faulty change overs, and Rosie being too light for our reinforced box!), but it was very close racing, going to 5 legs. We unfortunately lost 3-2. Next we were up against Maple Leaf Raggers, and again lost 3-1. And our final morning session against PODantics, and again lost 3-0.

After lunch the rain came in, and we lost our first race against TV Rogues, by then the already cut up lanes were like ice at the box. Racing was stopped while the lanes were moved and shavings were laid at the box end and run back. By now the majority of teams had pulled out, leaving just PODS, Maple Leafs, Barkshire and us in! Racing was reduced to the Best of 3. So our next race we had a bye. And finally we were against Barkshire Bandidos, who we lost against. We came 4th over all, with a best time of 21.66.

And finally Hotdogs. The rain had now stopped, but the run back was like a mud bath. The actual racing lanes, and box area was no problem for the dogs. Our first 2 races were bye's, and our last race was against Barkshire Bullets. Again we had very close racing, and if the conditions hadn't been so bad, we could have pushed the passes a bit more. But we lost to them as well! We came 5th over all, with a best time of 19.53.

Rosie didn't put a paw wrong at all today, and if she didn't get her FD last time out, she will certainly have got it today (and will be well on the way to FDi)! Well done Rosie!!
