Market Harborough - Sunday 24th March - (Report by Anne Alderman)

Only one team managed this show. Abby, Monty, Spencer, Breeze and Snip was our height dog.

We were Seed 1 in Div 3.

First we had to find a box loader. I couldn't see any familiar/friendly faces, as we rarely see the teams 'from Up North'. But then came across the Melton Team. They didn't have a spare box loader, as such, but Nick kindly box loaded for us all day.

So our first race was against Scallywags. We raced the 3 collies and Snip. I was unsure how Snip would cope with being indoors (noise), the box judge, and finally an unknown box loader. But Bob had every confidence in her, and she ran really well. Their best time was 20.59! And we beat the Scallywags 3-2.

Next we were up against the B. Bandidos. We swapped Breeze for Monty, and kept Snip as the height dog. Again they all ran well, but this time we lost 3-2.

Our final race of the morning was against the Melton Foxes. I thought we were going to lose our box loader here, but we managed to steal him away from his own team! Snip was tiring, so we ran the 4 big dogs. We managed to gain our fastest time of the day, 20.18, and won 3-0.

We had to think of our tactics for the afternoon races. First up, Flyde Rollercoasters. They had been consistently racing in the 20's, so we put in the 4 big dogs. Racing was close, but we managed to pull it off 3-2. We had to swap Breeze and Monty in the running order, and it paid off!

And so to our last race. We were against Border Patrol. They had been racing in the 22's, so we raced Snip again. The race went to 2-2. Both our times were about the 22 secs. Knowing that the 4 big dogs were faster, we swapped Snip for Breeze. We got a light and lost the race 3-2!!

So in typical Allsorts fashion, we had a 3 way run off! Best of 3 legs. We kept the 4 big dogs racing, and duly won both races, so giving us 2nd place in Div 3. Our best time, and new seed time 20.18.

Many thanks go out to our surrogate box loader for the day, Nick of Melton.
