Knebworth - Sun/Mon 5/6th May - (Report by Anne Alderman)

The majority of campers arrived over the course of Saturday. We were camped by 'The House' alongside the Deer! It was lovely to see them so close, (except for the amount of pooh, which the dogs thoroughly enjoyed!)

Sunday saw both teams competing in Div's 1 and 3. Hotdogs were seed 5 of 6, with a time of 18.30, and Allsorts were seeded 5 of 6 with a fast seed time of 20.18.

In the Allsorts, we had Breeze, Badger, Eddie, Monty, Lady, and making their debut in a sanctioned tournament were Molly and Chris! I think Molly only made one mistake the whole day, and raced really well, managing to swap lanes with no problems. I think Chris shed 'tears of delight', at their momentous moment! (I think we all forget how nerve racking our first competition is, especially when it's a team event). Our times were very consistent, with our best being 21.51 (and on 2 other occasions 21.52). We only managed to beat the Knights, and came 5th in our Div.

Hotdogs ran the usual foursome! (Abby, Barley, Spencer and Bazil, with Ben as a spare if needed!). Like the Allsorts they had their work was cut out with some fast teams in their Div. But in (now, if we get it right) usual style, we managed to beat the J. Jacks! The two teams are so close, it makes for exciting racing, and no mistakes can be made! Our best time was 18.74, and we came 5th. Bazil should have gained his FDa Well Done!

Onto cleverdogs, and the results were:

Barley 1st Mini Cleverdogs
Ben 6th Open Cleverdogs Div I
Abby 1st Open Cleverdogs Div II
Monty 2nd Open Cleverdogs Div II
Spencer 8th Open Cleverdogs Div III
Badger 2nd ABC Cleverdogs
Badger & Becky 2nd Cleverdogs Pairs
Breeze & Monty 4th Cleverdogs Pairs
Ross & Ben 6th Cleverdog Pairs

We had the guns close by the whole weekend, and for added noise a cannon. The gun shy dogs coped extremely well, although the cannon was a bit much for them. Rosie was able to run in a starters, but unfortunately the guns proved to much for her at this stage.

On Sunday evening, we celebrated Abby's Silver Award and Mollys first competition. Robert and Kay brought along a bottle of bubbly and a lovely cake with Abby on it (we all felt very mean eating Abby, but she was nice!). We partied 'til 3am (in our dreams!) and had a sing-a-long with Becky. Chris with her ?choral? voice was the main stay, with Kay as backing vocals, and occasionally, the rest of us joined in (to the bits we knew!). And Beckys requests? You've guessed it - Baa Baa Black Sheep, Jack and Jill etc…………I'm not sure what the other campers would have made of us, if they heard! (But after the Ti(n)a Maria episode last year, I suppose they wouldn't be surprised at anything!)
