B. Allsorts were in Div 4 with a seed time of 20.56! We had Toddy, Breeze, Bazil, Badger, Eddie and Lady. We started off on a good note, beating the Ballbusters 3-0, and a time of 21.05, and that was legit. Multibreed team! Next on, the 3 collies and Eddie. Up against the Ballistic Missiles, a lower seed team, I thought from out previous race, we should have no problem. But they were fast today, and no-one was going to catch them, and we last 3-0, best time 20.90. Next we had what I thought was our fastest four, against the Malvern Missiles Launchers. A couple of hiccups here, but we eventually won 3-2 with a best time of 20.66.
Next on came Div2. Hotdogs today were Abby, Barley, Monty, Spencer and Ben. They started off well, and then in came the flying changes, and they lost 3-2. Best time 19.46. Next on, and Abby was being 'rested'(!) we were 2-0 down, so Abby pulled Abby back in for Ben. It certainly done the trick, they pulled back the next two races, and were ahead in the last, when Barley fumbled the ball! Final result lost 3-2. best time 19.61.
After lunch we were back with the Allsorts, who were now on a mission! We were against Katies Cruisers, and as Toddy was doing so well as lead dog, I decided to keep him there, and try Breeze second (with Bazil on standby to dig us out of the hole Breeze was about to make), followed by Eddie and Lady last. Although not brilliant passes, Breeze behaved herself, much to Bazil's disgust. We had a near miss with Lady and Eddie when Jan had to rerun (which had to be done as the opposition were also running five dogs). Jan let Eddie go just before Andy had got a hold of Lady, and somehow having released Eddie, he was suddenly picked up by his harness, Lady was grabbed, and Eddie returned to the ground still running!. Although we lost that leg we managed to get a final result of a 3-1 win with a best time of 21.93. So onto BA's last race of the day against the Killa Bytes. So back to our fastest four, who had no problems resulting in a 3-0 victory, with the best time of the day (and seed time) of 20.31. And so we came 2nd overall, in Div 4.
And finally back to the Hotdogs. They raced much better in the afternoon, and won there first race against the Tykes, 3-0, best time 19.51. And finally against seed 1, the Bad Dog Meecos, who were racing sub 19's, so we lost 3-1, with a best time of the day, 19.31.
And so (tactics?) we went to a 3-way sudden death run off, for 3-5th places. Luckily everything went smoothly. We beat both teams, and so were placed 3rd overall in Div2.
I think we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was nice to have 2 competitive teams, where we could really 'go for it'. And Toddy managed to gain his FD title. Well done!
